I spent 4 hours at my Alma Mater today. Starting at 10am. I thought that maybe I wouldn't be excited about that, you know, the whole getting up early thing, but no..it was awesome! Ahh gosh, it was so inspiring to remember where I came from as an artist. To know that THAT was my foundation, and that was what began me on this less traveled road!! Hmm...I gotta do a small speech for the Alumni Concert, I should just put what I just said in there. Oh yeah, killin two birds with one stone baby!
Yeah so that rocked! Got to give an impromptu voice lesson to a girl with a lovely voice and all the high schoolers made me feel like a rock star coming up to me all starstruck after I sang a little 2 second solo. Then, the dude who was singing a bunch of solos got sick and the choral director asked me if I knew any baritones that could sing it. haha. I feel like I dont know anyone BUT baritones. So hopefully I got that all squared away and my baritone comes through.
Afterward, I played the Sims for a little too long and had a dinner date with April! That was my saturday!! Singing beautiful music at my old high school and dining with my bestie!
I love my life!!!!!!!!!

My blog template is having an identity crisis.

I'm sure by the time most of you read this I will have had my blog back up and running with all the little do-dads and what not that I like...but in the meantime, I will just have this on up here.
I haven't posted in like foreeeeever!! You all missed me, yes, I know. Truth is, I started playing The Sims again. The Sims sometimes takes over my life. Which is funny because, you're running these virtual peep's lives? I got the Pets expansion pack [I should've got Bon Voyage like April said, oops!] but yeah, I got it, it's cool, it's taking over my life again. The thing is, I'm trying to play it as much as possible before The Sims 3 comes out and rules the world, and by 'rules the world' I mean, completely takes over the remainder of my life as I know it. Also, whenever there is some sort of severance of some obsession I have, [ie. LOST, The Sopranos, Big Love, the Harry Potter series] I have to find something else to freak about.
Speaking of which, holy mackerel the season finale of LOST omg! If you're not a fan of the show now, you should strongly consider becoming one before the show ends. It's waaay more fun to be part of the hysteria than to become a fan after the fact.
The past week was cool, hung out with friends, worked out, had various misadventures and lovely moments of solitude. This upcoming week will certainly be no exception!

Funny thing happened on my way to the hair salon

I'm singing in a competition tomorrow and I needed to get my hair done BADLY before I went on to do it. The thing was, it looked like it was going to rain at any given moment. I was nervous that I would get caught in the rain and look like a wet dog tomorrow. SO, I had this inner conflict all morning and early afternoon until finally I left my house to walk to the hair salon. When I turned the corner, I noticed the police car first. Then I saw all the people looking at the police car..then I saw 5 police officers around one girl with rollers in her hair, presumably coming out of the hair salon I was on my way to. They were trying to get her into the backseat and she was fighting them, with her shoulders[?] because she was totally in handcuffs.
She was telling them how much of a joke they were, "You're a joke," the police officer replied,"and that's why *you're* going to jail right now".So I walked inside the salon anyway because, hello? I needed to get my friggin hair done...the police were already there, they seemed to have the situation under control beside a little shoulder jousting. There were a few ladies in there so I had to sit around for a while. I eventually found out the whole story from the owner: The shoulder-boxing girl who was cursing out the police while being arrested [psychooo
] had apparently stolen 20 dollars from my hair dresser's bag as soon as she came in. Maybe to pay for her hair? She said she was getting some candy. Candy? Really? What she didn't know was that the ladies caught it all on camera and saw exactly what she did. They washed her hair like nothing happened and when she was under the dryer, my beautician went into the bathroom and called the police to haul her out of there. The po-po came in, she denied everything of course and tried to run away. Maybe that's why there were 5 of them for this small crazy woman. Then they found "drugs" in her bag. Oops! Somebody's day just got a WHOLE LOT WORSE. They eventually handcuff her and ask my beautician to go to the precinct to file a complaint...great! What about MY hair?!Ugh!

Here come the judge!
So. I know I always have crazy fun and wacky things to discuss, but TODAY was a little intense! Basically, I caught a speeding ticket a few months ago in new jersey by my old church job and I had to appear in court for it today at 5pm. Well, that was a HUGE inconvenience because I work in midtown on Wed. and Thurs. I decided to drive into town and go straight from there.
After looking for a spot for the better half of my life, I pulled into one of those ridiculously expensive Parking Lots. I basically paid 12 dollars for a half hour...yeah...I taught my unruly school kids for 20mins [Which I'll probably have to answer for tomorrow] and then I dropped some cds off at the library.
Then I had a very smooth sail over to the Municipal Court, which was literally across the street from the Church where I worked [talk about small towns!]. So, I'm used to the very scary looking Courts that I see downtown Brooklyn, with multiple metal detectors and the evil security guards. But
the outside of this one looked like a beautiful country club. I thought maybe they'd have butlers in there with silver trays of food. My appointment was at 5pm but I didn't get to talk to the prosecutor until around 6.
In the city, also, you can count on your cop not being there, but not in this town. They were all sitting around the table waiting for you to come. My cop was there, good thing I was nice to him. I told them I was rushing to Church to sing that's why I was speeding. They were all impressed that I was singer and suggested I sing to the judge. I totally would've if it meant that I could get off without paying! After that whole thing, I had to go into the court room...I think THAT was the scariest part! We had to sit and listen to other people plea their cases and such, I had planned on crying and/or singing to help get out of paying 220 dollars and getting points on my license. There were all these different crazies in there. A dude who was driving drunk, some restaurant owner that was offering us all pasta after he got off, a 17 yr old who got a ticket because he was driving at midnight with 5 people in the car? Really, new jersey driving laws? Really?
Ugh, so, by the time we got to mine, the judge was super nice to me because I looked like I was going to piss my pants and I kept looking at the floor. I ended up paying ninety-nine dollars. Whew. Then I watched LOST and holy mackeral what a glorious way to end the night. Can't wait for the finale next week!!!!
eep op ork ah-ah!

What the shiz?

Wait a minute. Have I seriously not posted in a week?! Gosh, it's not because I've been busy or anything. I haven't really! You know what happened? The weather got so wonderfully beauteous and I was busy making plans to be out there!
You guys didn't miss much. I went to various locations that I frequent [when I'm in town] like, Battery Park City, The Promenade, The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and the general area of Prospect Park. I even got a little sun on my legs! Yesterday, I continued with my new Wednesday fashion of being out all day and being tired at night and still watching LOST no matter what....which by the way was so amazing that I think I'm going to get married to LOST on facebook soon [because you know, if you're not married on facebook, it's totally not for real].
This weekend should be awesome, and by awesome I mean, there are too many events to chose from. I'm hoping I don't shut down and avoid going to all of them like I normally do.
xoxo
