After looking for a spot for the better half of my life, I pulled into one of those ridiculously expensive Parking Lots. I basically paid 12 dollars for a half hour...yeah...I taught my unruly school kids for 20mins [Which I'll probably have to answer for tomorrow] and then I dropped some cds off at the library.
Then I had a very smooth sail over to the Municipal Court, which was literally across the street from the Church where I worked [talk about small towns!]. So, I'm used to the very scary looking Courts that I see downtown Brooklyn, with multiple metal detectors and the evil security guards. But
the outside of this one looked like a beautiful country club. I thought maybe they'd have butlers in there with silver trays of food. My appointment was at 5pm but I didn't get to talk to the prosecutor until around 6.In the city, also, you can count on your cop not being there, but not in this town. They were all sitting around the table waiting for you to come. My cop was there, good thing I was nice to him. I told them I was rushing to Church to sing that's why I was speeding. They were all impressed that I was singer and suggested I sing to the judge. I totally would've if it meant that I could get off without paying! After that whole thing, I had to go into the court room...I think THAT was the scariest part! We had to sit and listen to other people plea their cases and such, I had planned on crying and/or singing to help get out of paying 220 dollars and getting points on my license. There were all these different crazies in there. A dude who was driving drunk, some restaurant owner that was offering us all pasta after he got off, a 17 yr old who got a ticket because he was driving at midnight with 5 people in the car? Really, new jersey driving laws? Really?
Ugh, so, by the time we got to mine, the judge was super nice to me because I looked like I was going to piss my pants and I kept looking at the floor. I ended up paying ninety-nine dollars. Whew. Then I watched LOST and holy mackeral what a glorious way to end the night. Can't wait for the finale next week!!!!
eep op ork ah-ah!
